By Nidhi VermaNEW DELHI (Reuters) - Oil tanker Hafnia Seine bound for the United States from Sikka port in Western India hit Bharat Petroleum Corp's (BPCL) crude import facility in an accident late on Sunday, two sources with the knowledge of the matter said on Monday. "It appears to have hit the peripheral structure of the single point mooring (SPM)," one of the sources said, adding that no vessel is scheduled to discharge at its SPM currently. BPCL has a single point mooring at Sikka to import crude for its landlocked Bina refinery in central India. That's after Congress ended monthly checks to parents as part of the expanded child tax credit. The poverty rate for all people also increased from where it stood in 2021. Refundable tax credits like payments from the expanded child tax credit helped keep millions of Americans out of poverty in 2021. The SPM child poverty rate of those under 18 soared from the record low, starting with data from 2009, of 5.2% in 2021 to 12.4% in 2022. "The child poverty rate in 2022 would have been about 8.4 percent rather than 12.4 percent."

As of January 2021, 37.9 million Americans lived in poverty, accounting for 11.6% of the total population, according to the latest report from the United States Census Bureau. But the number reported by the Census Bureau is based on the official poverty measure, which has remained virtually unchanged since the mid-1960s. Grace Bonilla, president of United Way of New York City, said the official poverty measure doesn't take very obvious indicators into consideration. As a response, the Census Bureau developed the Supplemental Poverty Measure in 2011 as an improvement over the existing measure. The SPM rate for 2021 sat at 7.8%, compared with the official poverty measure rate of 11.6%, mainly due to government relief during the Covid-19 pandemic.
